A riverboat is a riverboat. I've been on many riverboat cruises, and this one was only slightly different. I actually learned a few things from listening to the recorded messages that told the story of St.Paul and the river itself. The only problem was you had to sit almost directly underneath the speaker to hear any of it, so I didn't get it all. I wish it would've taken us closer to Fort Snelling so we could've gotten a better look, but it was pretty interesting to see all of those places from the vantage point of the water as opposed to seeing them from the roads as we're all used to.
I did notice on the way down that the road we came in on must have been recently flooded. It was covered in sand and silt, and riddled with enormous potholes. I could see a waterline on the trees where the water had risen to this year. Wow, its strange to think that the view we had is almost the same view the early settlers had when they got here.
